Discovery Foundation’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Program

Picture of woman in tech

Applications now open for Discovery Foundation’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Program!

Women are increasing their representation in technology and taking on new and enhanced leadership roles, so we’re delighted to share a new mentoring program for BC women entrepreneurs in tech-focused or tech-enabled businesses, called Discovery Foundation’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Program.

Thanks to funding from the Discovery Foundation, this program will help you access a peer network of like-minded women, gain insights from an experienced woman entrepreneur and develop your leadership, negotiation and communication skills.

What’s Included in This Program

You will virtually unite with a group of like-minded women for seven sessions of support and learning!

5 Sessions of the Taking the Stage® Mentoring Program

Dates and times for each session are dependent on the group in which you’re placed (see options, below).

Taking the Stage Leadership Mentoring

Developed by The Humphrey Group, Taking the Stage® is used by large corporations like Microsoft, Bell and Johnson & Johnson to teach women in their organization to speak up and better influence and inspire others.

Taking the Stage® will help you to become a strong, confident leader by teaching you to speak with strength on any ‘stage’– from emails to meeting rooms, from town halls to phone calls.

Taking the Stage® will empower you to lead every time you communicate, by helping you to:

  • Clarify your thoughts to create a strong message
  • Avoid subconscious habits and language traps that undermine your leadership credibility
  • Be seen as an authentic leader instead of a ‘doer’

The sessions combine practical learning and discussion with extensive personal feedback and coaching so you can overcome your individual stumbling blocks and see significant progress right from the first session!

BONUS SESSION: Negotiate Naturally

In this bonus session, developed by Women’s Enterprise Centre, you’ll learn to negotiate effectively, preserve your integrity and be yourself to get what you really want.

2 Webinars to Develop Your Leadership Abilities

You’ll come together with all program participants for two webinars in Fall 2021.

Inclusive Leadership: Overcoming Unconscious Bias

What assumptions and conclusions do you jump to without thinking? People are diverse in a number of ways, not just in ways we can see.

We live in a world of diversity, and bias matters when people are excluded or treated unfairly based on things like the colour of their skin, gender, age, or wealth.

In this workshop you will learn strategies to overcome “unconscious bias”, embrace diversity, and practice inclusive leadership to grow your business.

Overcoming Imposter Syndrome Workshop

Do you ever have that “I’m in over my head and they’re going to find out” feeling?

You probably answered yes, as the majority of us do, and are experiencing Imposter Syndrome.

This experience is especially true for leaders and managers in companies that are in their growth phase.

Imposter Syndrome is the sense that you are less accomplished or qualified than your peers. The downside is this internal narrative can negatively impact productivity, teamwork, and moral; all which impact your bottom line.

This workshop is designed to help you think and act with confidence to overcome these feelings of self-doubt.
