PIVOT: A Virtual Panel Series – Leadership Lessons to Support Working Parents during COVID-19
April 17, 2020 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
One month into home schooling, working from home and balancing our lives during this pandemic, we speak with three diverse leaders about best practices for how we can navigate this new realty as parents. We will also explore ways colleagues and managers of working parents can best support their team members.
Mita Mallick, works at Unilever out of New York City, leading the North American Diversity & Inclusion Agenda and Employer Brand, leading global cross cultural marketing. Similar to many of us, Mita and her husband were both transitioned to working from home, shortly after she found out that her children’s school had been canceled due to COVID-19. She started to question: How can I join our leadership team meeting if I don’t have someone to watch my toddler and she might babble in the background? How can I help support my 4-year-old and 7-year-old who now have to both do virtual schooling from home? How can I take care of my father during the day if the home health aide can’t come in?
Also joining the conversation, Esther Wojcicki, author of the acclaimed “How to Raise Successful People”, is famous for three things: teaching a high school class that has changed the lives of thousands of kids, inspiring Silicon Valley legends like Steve Jobs, and raising three daughters who have each become famously successful. And Colonel Mark Gasparotto, a Canadian Military Veteran, who will share his family’s tent routine that he adapted from military tent routine’s carried out during winter warfare training, exercises, and operations. Leading businesses from home with children can sometime feel a little like warfare, Col. Gasparotto will share with us his top military leadership lessons that we can take home for a happy home during the pandemic.
