[MEDIA RELEASE] Women’s Enterprise Centre Welcomes Three New Board Members

Non-profit says Directors’ diverse experiences will benefit women entrepreneurs throughout BC

Women’s Enterprise Centre (WEC) has announced the appointment of three new members to their Board of Directors: Pilar Portela in Kaslo, Trish Mandewo in Coquitlam, and Brandi Wingrove in Vancouver.

Women’s Enterprise Centre is a non-profit organization that provides business loans, advisory services, training, mentoring, resources and support to women entrepreneurs throughout BC.

“I am excited to welcome these three highly-respected community leaders to our Board” says Jill Earthy, CEO of Women’s Enterprise Centre. “Their leadership and diverse entrepreneurial experience will bring new energy and expertise so that Women’s Enterprise Centre can continue to support the development and growth of women entrepreneurs in BC.”

Pilar Portela is the President and CEO of Astra Smart Systems and i4C Innovation. She has over 20 years of experience in enterprise business applications, technology startups and economic development and is focused on helping start-ups and minorities in rural areas thrive and grow as part of her larger vision of global rural economic development.

Trish Mandewo is the Co-Founder and CEO of Synergy on Boards Consulting Group, a company that provides a resource for corporations and non-profit organizations looking to bring diversity of thought into their boardrooms. A former loan client of WEC, Trish was elected to the Coquitlam City Council in 2018 and currently sits on Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM) community economic development and Indigenous relations committees as well as the Lower Mainland Local Government Association (LMLGA).

Brandi Wingrove is an audit partner in KPMG’s Vancouver Enterprise practice, specializing in small and medium size private companies across many different industries with a specialization in consumer markets, real estate and technology. She has a strong entrepreneurial background and is passionate about helping women entrepreneurs succeed.
