GEM Canada Report on Women’s Entrepreneurship 2013 & 2014

This report provides a comprehensive overview of women’s participation in entrepreneurial activity in Canada including their personal backgrounds and business profile, attitudes and motivations for starting a business, the success and economic impact of women-led ventures, and the quality of working life for women entrepreneurs.

The report provides comparisons with male entrepreneurs in Canada as well as women in other countries participating in the GEM International Survey. The data shows that Canada has the second highest total early-stage activity among women in participating countries.

The report recognizes the strong participation and performance of women entrepreneurs and highlights areas of future focus including ensuring that women tap into more diverse sectors and market, supporting women in scaling their businesses, and greater access to skills, resources and mentoring.
