Christine Bergeron, Chair
As President and Chief Executive Officer of Vancity, Canada’s largest community credit union, Christine believes that banking plays a vital role in developing a healthy society—building the wellbeing of people and, at the same time, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the communities in which they live and work.
Prior to becoming CEO, Christine held several senior leadership roles within Vancity, most recently serving as Vancity’s Chief Member Services Officer. She oversaw services to Vancity’s over half a million members, including the team providing finance for small and medium sized enterprises through business lending, micro finance, growth capital and cash management services.
With a strong entrepreneurial background and an undergraduate degree in sociology, Christine completed her MBA at UBC’s Sauder School of Business. Upon completion of her MBA, Christine wasted no time in becoming involved with Chrysalix Energy, one of the first venture capital firms focused on cleantech venture investing. After Chrysalix, she co founded a multi-strategy hedge fund furthering her expertise in sustainability funding.
Christine was included in Business in Vancouver’s 2007 Top 40 Under 40 list, awarded the Rising Star award by the Association of Women in Finance in 2012, and recognized by the Clean50 awards in 2017 for her dedication to sustainability.
Christine currently chairs the board of the Women’s Enterprise Centre, is a board member of Aviso Wealth, and is on the Board of Governors for the BC Business Council. Christine also represents North America on the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative’s Banking Board.
