Joy Playford, Director

Joy Playford, CMC, continues to be recognized as an innovative leader with a passion for people, building community, developing organizational bench-strength and delivering results. She is co-owner of the Playford Performance Group Inc., a leadership development, executive coaching and performance consulting firm based in Kelowna.

She joined the firm following a 30-year career of progressively senior operational leadership, serving the financing and consulting needs of Canadian entrepreneurs. A Certified Management Consultant, Joy has also completed York University’s Executive Development Program, as well as International Coach Federation-accredited Executive Coach training.

Joy’s interest in entrepreneurial enterprise started early, growing up in her family’s manufacturing business. She developed a keen interest in, and commitment to, entrepreneurs and the impact they have on creating opportunities for people and building strong communities. She studied commerce at Queens University and began her career in development banking in 1979 as an account manager, following five years working in public accounting.

Joy is a proactive leader in building strong relationships with, and delivering services to, women in business. During her corporate career, she lead partnerships and alliances with regional, national and international women’s business organizations, serving on steering committees for Women’s Trade Missions and the International Advisory Council of the Global Summit of Women, where she was also a featured speaker at international conferences in Mexico City and Cairo.

In private practice, Joy continues her commitments in support of women in business by providing executive coaching and mentoring to women entrepreneurs, and is a founding member of the Kelowna Women Leaders Network. Joy’s ongoing community service includes Playford Performance Group’s pro bono executive coaching to leaders in the not-for-profit sector. She has served as Chairperson for the Regional Development Council of the BC Cancer Foundation for the Southern Interior, Chapter Chair and Board Member of the Canadian Association of Management Consultants BC.
