Shauna has been a full time entrepreneur for 19 years. She has always been passionate about empowering women entrepreneurs and has been a volunteer with WEC since 2007.
In 2009, after ten years of owning a manufacturing company that created and sold inspirational glass stone magnets globally, Shauna decided to downsize the business and move to Prince George, BC, in hopes of finding more balance for her young family by going to a smaller community. Shortly after moving to Prince George, she closed down her manufacturing business and together with her husband started a communications company.
In 2012, she co-founded Startup PG as a volunteer and became a community builder who connected national, provincial and regional service organizations to local entrepreneurs. The visibility from leading the startup community also led to positions on different boards, including being appointed to be an advisor and Co-Vice Chair of the Premier’s Women’s Economic Council (PWEC) from 2014-2017.
In 2015, through a contract with WEC, Shauna co-facilitated group discussions in four BC communities that actively explored how to support economic growth through women and create a greater impact by growing women in senior leadership roles, in trades and emerging sectors and as entrepreneurs. She was also a facilitator for portions of the BC Economic Forum (2015) and the We for She Conference (2016).
Shauna was recognized as one of BC’s Most Influential Women in 2017 (Mentors Edition) by BC Business Magazine for her mentorship roles as founder and lead for Startup Prince George. More recently in 2019, she was appointed to the Federal Government’s expert panel advising on the Women’s Entrepreneurship Strategy in Canada.
She currently works on a few communications contracts with different non-profit organizations throughout BC and is the Community Engagement and Programs Coordinator for YELL Canada’s expansion into the Northern region.
Shauna holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Western Ontario and resides in Prince George with her husband and two young children. Shauna is also currently serving as a Board Member for both the Prince George Airport Authority and the Exploration Place Science Centre & Museum.
